This blog is dedicated to our dear friend, Nosson Deitsch OBM, who was tragically torn away from us on Lag B’Omer 5770.

Nosson was a one-of-a kind Bochur who influenced many people, from all ages and backgrounds. He had a perpetual smile on his face and an extremely generous heart. He would do the biggest favor for a friend with only a moment’s notice. All those who knew him feel they had a unique relationship with him.

There are many untold stories of his selflessness, kindness, and the affect he had on countless lives. Please share your story, so that others can get a glimpse into his unique character and towering accomplishments.

Different World

By Anonymous

I did not have the fortune, and merit, to be counted amongst Nosson’s friends, I was older than him, married and on Shlichus, and by consequence we orbited in different spheres. So I am so grateful to have recently spent YT with him. He was the absolute embodiment of life, and people of every stripe gravitated to him, and his smile, and felt their lives enriched. He possessed extraordinary qualities many of us would so desperately elect to embody, yet few of us would be willing to shoulder the burden to actually make them our own.

He was learned, very learned, wise beyond his years, and yet humble at the same time, and though he seemed to love the sparing, the give and take of learning, it was never about him, it was about the sugya, his huge smile never left his face as he would proceed to systematically disassemble your argument, and somehow you felt no ill or inferiority.

Nosson was Emes, and in the words of Hayom Yom didn’t just Daven with an Emes, didn’t just learn with an Emmes, he was genuine, the real thing, a shtick Emes. And that shone through in everything he did. It is rare to find someone with such a deep mind, yet at the same time endowed with such a gigantic heart, he had room for everyone, helped everyone he could, all without the slightest pretentiousness. As though you were doing him a favor.

The world is a lonelier place this week then it was last. A gaping hole has been viciously torn into its fabric and in countless hearts as well.

I pray that Hashem give his family strength and comfort. And though nothing will ever replace his incredible personality, his family can rest assured that he accomplished more in his young life then many of us will accomplish in our Hundred and Twenty -P”G. Hundreds will continue his legacy, thousands will be inspired by those he inspired, the world is a better place because of Nosson.

Nosson will never be forgotten, not by those he touched, and not by the thousands now in awe of his unique personality.

May we be united with him, and all of the others, speedily in our day.

Hamakom Yenachem Eschem Besoch Shaar Availy Tzion VeYerushalaim.
