At the end of last year, when he was a Shliach in LA, Nosson started a mivtzah Tanya, promising to give cash prizes for anyone who would chaser a perek Tanya by heart, word-for-word. Apart from the fact that he raised all the money himself, one thing stands out as an example of Nosson’s unique generosity: While usually, when it comes to such mivtzahs you can only get tested on (and rewarded for) perokim which you never learnt before, on this occasion Nosson made it known, that he was willing to reward anyone who could chazer any perek, even if it was one that he already learnt on an earlier occasion.
There was a certain bochur who, even though he had already learned the perek before, nevertheless didn’t want to spend time brushing it up to get tested again. Amazingly, Nosson didn’t give and offered this bochur an even larger prize than he had originally, even larger than that offered to those who where learning entirely new material!
