Nosson's older brother Chezky is a classmate of mine. (He is a day younger than me), funny enough I happen to remember when Nosson was born in 5748. Chezky told me that he was named after their great uncle R' Nosson Nota Zuber, a very big Rov (in boston I believe) who was a Tomim in Lubavitch - very famous, well I for one never heard of him (in all my eight years).
Little did anyone imagine that the next Nosson Nota would become very, very famous.
Fast forward 22 years. in the end of last year our Bachurim here in Yeshiva and when discussion came up at the end of last year regarding staying this year, the Bachurim asked that we bring some eltere Bachurim to liven up the place - bring Nosson Deitsch, he will Mach a Bissel Lebediker un freilicher over here. Nosson Deitsch we asked? OK we'll bring him.
He definitely did have a very major impact on the Bachurim here - and I would have said the same thing a week ago.
In the last few days, I have been around a few groups and i am surprised at how many people felt like they were his BEST friend, he was a true Penimi. He was completely into every person that he spoke to.
A true Sever Ponim Yafos, I was shocked to find out that this is something that did necessarily come easy or naturally to him.
He was a true bringing together of Shomayim Vo'oretz Very, Very Chasidish, not one to waste time. and very approachable, fun loving and life loving, always a Geshmake vort or the latest story...
My memory of him is every morning sitting at his table, ear bids plugged into his ears, listening to Shiurim on Tanya (how many Bachurim at that age - including ones working in Yeshivos use all their time a Seder Chasidus is well known...)
Writing Kitzurim of the Shiurim, whether Reb Yoel, Chatzkel Sofer or whomever.
last week in Hayom Yom, there was the Famous vort that "Chassdidm Horishonim used to see that this peice of bread which I have is Er Mainer Vi Dayner"
When I read thre Hayom Yom after Davening, I added that I had once heard a Beautiful Vort from R' Yakov Moshe Wallberg on this Hayom Yom. if anybody is interested, please come over after Davening and I will tell it to you.
ONE bachur was interested: Nosson Deitsch. I guess caring about others interested him...
When looking at his notebook, the last thing he wrote about on Thursday morning was the difference between Sechel Enushi and Sechel Eloki. - And the last words, "I am a yesh because I feel myself".
I know that he was a true Mekushar, writing letters to the Rebbe on a Weekly Basis. With many Chasidishe Hergeishim.
Kol Sheruach Haberiyos Noche Heymenu, Ruach Hamakom Noche Heymenu!!! I think that this mishna is very appropriate!!!
I am sure that Nosson is storming the gates of Shomayim.
Nosson was a Bar Poiel, at every farbrengen that I was at with him, he could have been after many, many Lechaims at 3-4 in the morning he would always turn to me and with his characteristic Endearing Lisp he would turn to me with a broad smile and say "Nu Velvel Thzug Epes"
So I turn to you Hashem and I say "Nu Zug Epes - Yomar Letzaroseiny DAI!
Umocho Hashem Elokim Dimah Meyal Kol Poinim with the Hsgalus of Melech Hamoshiach NOW!
